Primanti Bros. Restaurant Opens First New Pittsburgh Location in More than 20 Years

On January 18, Primanti Brothers Restaurant and Bar has opened its first location in Pittsburgh city-proper in more than 20 years. The restaurant's newest location, it's 37th, is now at 5491 Penn Ave – in the space formerly occupied by Prairie.

To celebrate the opening of its newest location – the restaurant and bar showed its support for the Pittsburgh City Police Department by delivering food for more than 12 hours to the officers who serve Zone 5, where the new restaurant is located.

"We've been taking the Primanti Bros. brand around the country," said David Head, Primanti Bros. CEO. "And while we’ve been well received everywhere we've opened -- we're excited to also continue growing in our hometown of Pittsburgh."

In the spirit of the original Primanti Bros. in Pittsburgh's historic Strip District, the new location in Garfield will be largely focused on the brand's iconic Almost Famous sandwich. However, the new menu will also feature pizza, wings, appetizers, salads and other sandwiches.

"We're excited to show off how we've grown," said Head. "Primanti Bros. will always remain true to our roots, but since the Strip District location opened in 1933, we've expanded our menu, perfected our process and worked to remain focused on keeping our fans excited about our restaurants."

In addition to the expanded menu, the new Primanti Bros. will feature a full bar with daily specials on draft and bottled beers and cocktails.
Since 1933, Primanti Bros. has been a dining institution in Pittsburgh. The Almost Famous Primanti Bros. sandwich is built between two slices of soft Italian bread. It's piled high with a choice of grilled meat, an optional egg, secret recipe sweet-and-sour slaw, fresh-cut fries and two tomato slices.

"Get ready, Garfield: the Bros are back in town!" said Head.
